Emancipation in Ohio

I need someone's help to get out of my house. I live in Ohio and I am 17 1/2 years old. I will be 18 on November 3rd. I am currently in a household situation that is unstable. My mom calls the cops on me basically for breathing the wrong way. I have a place to go, a job this coming Monday, and a way to school. I am curious as to how I can go about getting on my own without waiting 6 months for this to happen. My home is unstable, my mom has shown her true colors to officers by throwing her hand back at me and grabbing me. She will not let me eat food because she said I can buy my own because its her food. I can't do that because she won't et me out of this house. I have a legal gurdian who has a place to live and can help with everything. I have court tomorrow and I am not sure how things will go. I need help trying to figure it out. Mom says the judge wil be on her side and I can't handle it. I cannot live with her; the constant yelling and hitting is ridiculous. You have a legal guardian OTHER than your custodial parent?

Who might that be?

Your friend of 7 years is your legal, court-appointed guardian?

Yes, I do. It is my friend of 7 years. She is 26. Has job and everything. She is willing to bend over backwards and go to the supreme court to get custody of me. I am in abusive relationship with my mom. I have several cops witness my mom trying to strike me and they had to get inbetween us.

She is not appointed guardian. Thats what I need help doing. I need to get out of my house and have her appointed my guardian. I cannot be with my mom. She is abusive and she allows me to stay with my cousin who has sexually abused me since I was 5.

The state of Ohio allows emancipation in two, and only two, situations.

One is if you are legally married.

The other is if you are a member of the active armed forces.

If you want any more information beyond that, start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's (from several years ago, I might add).

kimberlin, you cannot be legally emancipated.

You cannot make someone else your legal guardian.

You cannot change custody.

You CAN however report sexual and/or other abuse to CPS.

You start your own thread by clicking on the button that says, New Thread.

If you can't figure that much out, you're not going to manage on your own.

You would need parental permission for either marriage or joining the armed forces, btw.

Don't be stupid. The law is not going to change for you, and the Supreme Court not only doesn't care about you and your friend, they wouldn't waste the time to hear your nonsense anyway.

You're not getting emancipated in the state of Ohio. Period. You can put that in the bank and write checks on that. Wait the 6ish months until your 18th birthday, then move out.
