Default Doctor Never Told Me About Son's Sickle Cell Anemia

My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: IL

I recently requested my daughter and son's medical records from our current family physician whom they've both seen since birth. My son is 3 mos old and my daughter is 2. My daughter has terrible breathing problems and I am unsatisfied with the attempts to rectify this. While reading through my son's records I found a letter from the State of IL stating my son was a carrier for sickel cell anemia. My doctor has NEVER told me about my son being a carrier, I never even knew he was tested, nor did I know anything about this letter. I feel like my doctor neglected to tell me what is very important info about my son.

What should I do about this situation?

Talk to your doctor. He didn't cause the condition, it's apparently not active, and you claim no damages, so you shouldn't be expecting any money.

please don't assume by my post that I am expecting money. Should I not be concerned why I wasn't told about this situation?

well, at this point I do not know. I don't know if I need to have anything else done with him or watch for anything. I don't even know what sickel cell is. I guess my concern is why wasn't I told what this was and educated by it as that is directly what the letter from the state is directing the doctor to do??

It's time to educate yourself on sickle cell anemia.

    go read here

Your son is a carrier of the gene - he does not have the disease itself.

(This also generally implies that at least one of his parents also carries the gene)

What exactly is it you wish to accomplish?

wow, dogmatique not only answered questions you didn't ask (yet) but she provided you with a link so you could learn about sickle cell anemia, which you surely need to do.

what a nice way to say thank you, NOT!!
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.
