Default Credit Score Problem Caused by My Dad
My question involves a credit report problem in the State of: California

My dad had a credit card with a bank, and i was a co-signer of the account, which i was 13 years old at that time. (i do not remember signing any papers for this account, i didnt even know such an account existed)now im 22, dont have contact with my dad, he never payed the credit card debt of approx. 5,000 dollars, Now his debt is seen in my credit score, which is now over-due since a few years ago, total balance now is around 10,000 dollars, which is definetely damaging my credit score.... my credit is going to be scarred for life because of me "co-signing" into his account, so now i cant get anything with my credit.called the bank, and they said they need to talk to my dad, but have no contact with him... any possible solution? i would appreciate your help..thank you..

You need to speak to the card issuer's fraud department, not just customer service.

Explain that you were 13 years old at the time the account was opened - and thus not legally able to enter into a contract - and that your signature was forged. There will be a pile of paperwork to fill out documenting this.

You'll also want to dispute the entry on your credit report with all three credit reporting agencies.
