Angry Repossession
In june 2004 my wife leased a mini van from a dealership in pa. In february 2005 we moved from pa to florida.

From june of 2004 to march of 2008 every payment associated with leasing the van was made, some payments were late; but they were made. The original payoff amount was $16,245.00, in which we paid $16,750.00.

However, on april 1st 2008 the company repossessed the van without warning, we were not behind on any payments; nor did they send us any paperwork prior to them repossessing the van Is this legal?

When you default on a loan, you don't get advance notice that the repo man is coming - most people would simply hide the vehicle.

Why was the vehicle repoed? Is it that you didn't call for a final payoff, and estimated low?

My wife did call and the payoff quote was $500.00 which was paid in march of 2008; but on april 1st 2008 they repossessed the van; and my wife was not in default.
