My question involves business law in the state of: CT
I purchased a small business, and the previous owner listed a lease as an asset in our sales agreement. There are a few issues at play here. One is that the "lease" wasn't really a lease, it was a service agreement, and secondly the previous owner of the business did not own the lease/service agreement to sell. The lease was illegally terminated 8 months early by the landlord and that is another issue that I am pursuing legal actions against. I am wondering if the previous owner in breach of contract for selling something that wasn't hers to sell? Or if I have rights to damages due to the loss of lease/service agreement. I still owe her money for the purchase of the business and don't want to make anymore payments until I know for sure if I have the legal responsibility to finish paying her.

if you did not receive what you contracted for, you have an action available to you. If it was intentional, conversion or fraud comes to mind. If it was not intentional, possibly a claim for the reduced value or even possibly a claim for gains you will not realize in some cases.
