Default False Documentation By An Animal Shelter
A few months back I received an abused dog which later I decided not to keep. I went to a local animal shelter to give them the dog. The manager kept arguing and using harsh language and telling me that I didn't do anything right with the dog and made me feel like the most horrible person in the world. I was so upset by her rude behavior I took the dog and left. I never signed a release for the dog.

I just recently returned to that shelter to adopt a dog for my father and they refused to let me adopt because of a record they had on me which stated that I threatened the manager and took back a dog that I had surrendered. Although I was upset back then, I never once made any kind of threat while I was there. I asked what had been documented as a threat and they had no documentation of any actual words or phrases (because I never made one). I also asked for a copy of the report and they refused to give it to me. As for surrendering the dog, again, I never signed the release on the dog. Obviously this is 2 accounts of false documentation on the incident. I told the current manager that the information is false and asked for her to remove it. She refused stating that because it's there, it must be true. I asked if there was a means of me documenting a dispute, she refused that as well. The false record ruins my name in the shelter as a qualified pet owner. What can I do about this to clear the false information off the record?

Q: What can I do about this to clear the false information off the record?

A: Go to a different shelter.
